The value of a life is based upon the worth of its existence; that a global society of animal lovers constantly strives to reduce the number of euthanized dogs and cats taking place on a daily basis speaks to the inherent significance of these sentient creatures. Indeed, the pet overpopulation problem has animal welfare groups scrambling more than ever before for a viable solution to drastically reduce the prevalence of euthanasia for wholly adoptable animals, however, the quick and easy option of killing them continues to stay at least one step ahead of the elusive answer. Alewife Management And Ecology

The water sources of late are clearly demonstrating the consequences of overwhelming pollution and encroachment by killing off a significant percentage of alewife, which, in turn, serves to threaten those species that depend upon the fish species as a primary food source. What is being done to correct this drastic situation is too little too late according to critics, who contend that the alewife population, once so plentiful that the only implement necessary to catch them was a spoon, struggles for survival against pollution and man's encroachment upon fast disappearing spawning grounds. Long-standing within the narrow-minded and arrogant view of the human being has been the concept that no other living creature could possibly rise to the same level of worthiness as man perceives he warrants. Saying on the one hand how all animals are created equal but then contradicting this assertion by claiming some are more equal than others clearly illustrates the harmful duality of how man looks upon the entire animal kingdom, a collection of underlings he deems undeserving of basic respect and humane treatment.
